About

Hello, I’m Claire, founder of Kenning Tuition.

I began my teaching career in Spain before returning to the UK to complete my PGCE at the University of Manchester. I have since spent a number of years teaching in leading independent schools, working with high-achieving students in academically rigorous environments.

My approach to tuition is structured, responsive, and highly individualised. Rather than relying on generic methods, I assess each student’s strengths, gaps, and learning style in detail, and design sessions that are both targeted and efficient. The aim is not simply to improve grades, but to develop clarity of thought, precision in expression, and confidence in tackling complex material.

Sessions are also designed to function as a form of academic coaching. Alongside subject knowledge, I support students in developing the study habits, organisational strategies, and independent thinking skills required for success at GCSE, A Level and beyond.

Alongside my work in education, I am also a writer and editor. This informs my teaching in practical ways, whether that’s strengthening argumentative writing, or helping students refine and edit their work with greater control and awareness.
